Greenwashing is the disingenuous representation of a product, service, company or organization as environmentally friendly, sustainable, natural, or green. The FTC published the Green Marketing Guidelines to help marketers, and are the reporting agency for greenwashing.
Its tough to define what green marketing is. One thing is for sure, the trend toward incorporating some level of green is on the rise. Consumers are asking for it, and companies, either motivated by greed or genuine eco-concerns, are finding ways to claim a piece of the green market.
